A Novel Function of Heme Oxygenase-L in Epidermal Differentiation

panniculitis. Result: The most common clinical manifestation was a depressed patch on upper arm. There was 46oh and l3o/o positivity in the ANA and anti-ds DNA test, respectively. His topatho log ica l ly , a l l spec imens revealed lobu lar panniculitis and the majority of cases presented epidermal atrophy and dermal infiltration. Immunohistochemistry showed a predominance of T lymphocytes. Although the polymerase chain reaction analysis of the T-cell receptor-v gene showed a polyclonal smear in 89o/o of cases, a small portion of specimens demonstrated monoclonality. Conc lus ion : Lupus e ry thema tosus pann i cu l i t i s i s a spectrum of lymphocytic lobular panniculitis with one pole representing a subcuticular lymphoid dyscrasias and the opposite pole being a reactive one lacking clonality and phenotypic abnormalities.
